Saving Francesca

by Melina Marchetta
Pages: 243
Format: Paperback
Year pub: 2006
Publisher: Knopf Books for Young Readers
Francesca is stuck at St. Sebastians, a boys' school that's pretends it's coed by giving the girls their own bathroom. Her only female companions are an ultra-feminist, a rumored slut, and an an impossibly dorky accordion player. The boys are no better, from Thomas who specializes in musical burping to Will, the perpetually frowning, smug moron that Francesca can't seem to stop thinking about.

Then there's Francesca's mother, who always thinks she knows what's best for Francesca—until she is suddenly stricken with acute depression, leaving Francesca lost, alone, and without an inkling who she really is. Simultaneously humorous, poignant, and impossible to put down, this is the story of a girl who must summon the strength to save her family, her social life and—hardest of all—herself.

Blogoversary Part I: START (how it all began)

Because I missed out on my Blogoversary on Saturday, I am taking this week to just appreciate the little blog The Awkward-ness is. ^^ Here goes 3rd person narration!

Long, long, long time ago. There was a girl named Delaney and she loved books. She just barely discovered a website called Goodreads that was a magical fairytale world where she met so many amazingness people.

she is no longer around
the blogsphere due to
some incident TT _ TT
One day, she looked at someone's profile and saw they had a website. From there, if she recalls, she discovered the world of blogging. This person that inspired her was Wendy at A Cupcake and a Latte. She read post after post on Wendy's blog. And realizing she would be bored in the summer, she wanted to create one.

For some reason, she was so excited, she created one in March instead of during the summertime. Well, that's okay.

From there she thought--real hard--for a name. She wanted Random Ranting or The Random Ranter but they were all taken. Disappointed, she added another "-er" to Ranter turning it to Ranterer.

And then, she wrote her first post. And wrote random crap that she later deleted so you can be spared of death of bad posts.

From there, she realized....
