Just Listen

by Sarah Dessen
Pages: 371
Format: Paperback
Year pub: 2008
Publisher: Speak
Last year, Annabel was "the girl who has everything"—at least that's the part she played in the television commercial for Kopf's Department Store. This year, she's the girl who has nothing: no best friend because mean-but-exciting Sophie dropped her, no peace at home since her older sister became anorexic, and no one to sit with at lunch. Until she meets Owen Armstrong. Tall, dark, and music-obsessed, Owen is a reformed bad boy with a commitment to truth-telling.

With Owen's help, maybe Annabel can face what happened the night she and Sophie stopped being friends.
NOOOOO I'M DONE!!!! I'm killing myself for reading this fabulous book too face!!! It's killing me!!!! x.x
"Don't think or judge. Just Listen." - Owen
Oh, I could dedicate this whole review just to Owen, but I won't. The music obsessed geek. I actually wrote down every song/singer/band listed in JUST LISTEN and listened to them like "Thank You" by Led Zeppelin or Jimmy Paige. The Jimmy Paige one actually gave me a bit of headache. I got tired even from just listening to it! Anyways, Owen helps Annabelle (our main character here) get over things. And each quote that I was copying down was from him. He's just that awesome! Even if his taste of music is a little odd. XP

And next time I go to a carwash, I need to try the carwash phenomenon.
"Silence is so freaking loud."- Owen
Annabelle, I could really relate to her because i'm the youngest but not of three daughters, still, the youngest. She keeps things in, and that's the hard part of things, it's so easy to keep things in and once you actually let it out, it just spills. I really felt for her, I wanted to be her friend when everything was turned against her. Her sisters: Kirsten and Whitney. Both superbly amazing. Both in depth and character. I truly just loved every single character, even Sophie! Koodos for that!

But the writing! After re-read after re-read, I didn't realize that the writing, the plot, EVERYTHING, was just so simple. It was just so simple and that simplicity is what made me fall in love with JUST LISTEN. What made me fall in love with Owen, Annabelle, Whitney, Kirsten, Clarke, Rolly. And--oh my!--there's a little cameo of my best buds in THIS LULLABY Dexter and Remy!!!!!! Ahhhhhh!!!! I was screaming that I got to meet them!!! It's the first re-read after reading THIS LULLABY. And I LOVED, LOVED, seeing them!!!

This book, it just holds a dear place in my heart. It really does, it's just amazing. THE BEST SARAH DESSEN BOOK IN MY MIND!!!!! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!!! And it makes me want to go get bacon!!!!
And so, now I'm going to mope because I won't get around to a really good book to just sit down and read like this one in a while. <33333333

Eight years after Graceling, Bitterblue is now queen of Monsea. But the influence of her father, a violent psychopath with mind-altering abilities, lives on. Her advisors, who have run things since Leck died, believe in a forward-thinking plan: Pardon all who committed terrible acts under Leck's reign, and forget anything bad ever happened. But when Bitterblue begins sneaking outside the castle--disguised and alone--to walk the streets of her own city, she starts realizing that the kingdom has been under the thirty-five-year spell of a madman, and the only way to move forward is to revisit the past.

Two thieves, who only steal what has already been stolen, change her life forever. They hold a key to the truth of Leck's reign. And one of them, with an extreme skill called a Grace that he hasn't yet identified, holds a key to her heart.

The Effects of Coffee (my version)

"Coffee contains caffeine, which acts as a stimulant."

I know many adults with flashy brief cases and works in a boring-ass office with stuck-up bosses caring around fancy mugs and staying up all night doing piles of work drink coffee. They need it, like it, or just want it. It helps you keep awake and gives you a boost of energy. Lots of people know that. Would you so believe if i said that if I drank coffee it makes me sleepy?

Yes, well, according to my experiments of drinking coffee from the well know store Starbucks, after drinking to half the medium sized cup, i begin to get sleepy and fuzzy and just need a nap. This is proven from two of the times I've drank coffee.

This is Doctor T. telling people like me that I can't drink coffee because it makes me sleepy and not hyper or feeds as an energy boost. But many people drink coffee because of that and it actually works. Please don't take my word for it.
